Adjunct Faculty - Construction Management

The Safety and Construction Sciences Department at Keene State College invites applications for adjunct instructors in the Construction Management program. Adjunct faculty teach undergraduate courses focused on the management and technical aspects of construction and are expected to provide engaging, student-centered instruction aligned with program outcomes.

Adjunct faculty will prepare students to become leaders in protecting worker health and well-being across industries. Established as two of the college’s signature professional programs, Safety and Construction Safety combines technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and human-centered approaches to safety. The program emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical practice, aligning with Keene State College’s mission of applied learning and lifelong impact. Graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control workplace hazards while advancing a culture of safety, health, and performance improvement.

Duties/Responsibilities

Teaching (80%)
  • Teach undergraduate courses and develop curriculum content focused on Safety Sciences and applied learning.
  • Design, deliver, and assess courses that integrate real-world industry practices, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Create instructional materials and experiential learning activities aligned with Keene State College’s learning outcomes and accreditation standards.
  • Provide instruction in all Safety and Construction Safety Courses.
Student Support (20%)
  • Provide student support through regular office hours and individualized mentoring.
  • Offer guidance on coursework, internships, and professional development.
  • Support student success through timely feedback and accessibility outside of class.
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience
  • Master's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or a closely related field.
  • At least 2 years of professional, applied experience outside of academia, demonstrating effective application of safety principles in practice settings.
  • A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience, which may include high school, college-level, or workplace training environments. Experience should encompass course planning, delivery, management of classroom or virtual settings, assessment of teaching, and engagement in continuous improvement practices.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Recommended skills may include but are not limited to: HOP, SIF Science, BBS, OSHA, EPA, Ethics, Law, Construction Safety, Industrial Hygiene, SMS, Risk/Loss, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference may be given to candidates who possess experience in Construction Safety.

  • SAFE 205 – Construction Methods
  • CMGT 300 – Construction Practices I
  • CMGT 400 – Construction Practices II

Compensation Pay Range

$800/credit or $840/credit for those with terminal degrees. This is the standard unless a different rate has already been negotiated and approved by the dean.
