- Analyze submissions and make decisions based on risk characteristics and exposure analysis
- Oversee a book of business within a geographic territory and ensure profitable operations
- Handle new and renewal placement processes, including negotiation and preparation of proposals
- Assist agents and internal staff with carrier information and general processes
- Demonstrated experience in account management and insurance placement for commercial and specialty personal lines products
- Required to maintain current, active license(s) status through continuing education
- Solid knowledge of underwriting concepts and servicing for excess/surplus coverages
- Experience with brokerage customer service and policy processing
- Proficiency in using PC software applications (e.g., Internet Explorer, Outlook)
- Experience providing customer-oriented solutions or service
- Demonstrated understanding of carrier appetites and market conditions
- Experience consulting with agents in a brokerage setting
- Ability to effectively use reference materials and process policy language
- Proven success in placing profitable business
