Nurse Manager, RN Labor & Delivery Cheshire Medical Center - Birthing Pavilion Keene, New Hampshire

The Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors; ensuring that standards of practice and quality of care are maintained; sustaining customer-focused care, managing human and financial resources; and aligning the department's goals with the hospital's strategic priorities.

The Nurse Manager promotes individual, peer and departmental accountability to the mission, vision, values and strategic priorities of the organization as well as assists with the development and modification of goals and objectives for the department and assures that the goals are achieved. This high-visibility position is also responsible for promoting evidenced-based care for all patients served by the department and assuring compliance with national standards, professional and regulatory guidelines that govern patient care (e.g., Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services).

This role provides oversight for department quality improvement activities and facilities change and is responsible for daily operational oversight ensuring staffing and patient flow while partnering with multidisciplinary teams.

Additional Responsibilities include:
  • Developing and implementing unit goals, policies, and standards. Ensuring regulatory compliances. Ability to foster employee engagement through the support of shared governance, staff participation, and recognition efforts. Leading quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with OBGYN leaders and the perinatal safety nurse. Understands and is responsible for budget variances related to patient volumes/revenues and operational expenses in collaboration with the Director.
Minimum Education:

Graduate of an accredited RN nursing program. BSN required upon hire or within 2 years of hire, or BS in another field with 5 years of RN experience. MSN preferred.

Minimum Experience:

5 years in related area including labor and delivery, nursery, mother baby and gyn surgery. Teaching experience and/or leadership experience preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

Current NH RN license.

Department Specific Skills, Knowledge and/or

Competencies:

NRP, BLS, AWHOMM intermediate and advanced fetal monitoring. PALS, ACLS, STABLE and NCC Inpatient OB or EFM preferred. Perinatal Quality Foundation fetal monitoring certification, 20 hours breastfeeding education within 6 months of hire. Pediatric experience desirable.
