The position of Administrative Specialist is for our sister organization, Robert
F. Kennedy Medical Plan. This position provides prompt, accurate and courteous replies to written and telephonic inquiries. These inquiries encompass numerous contact and originate from participants, providers, contracted companies and the general public. Typically, these inquiries involve a variety of issues including specific benefits, pricing, premiums, claim rejections and claim status.
- Distributes information on and explains basic benefits programs such as retirement, pension, health and life plans to participants and dependents.
- Refers inquiries to appropriate individuals, as needed.
- Provides and receives benefit enrollment forms and literature.
- Maintains check log of all checks of record to aid in reconciliation process.
- Performs general filing duties and maintains filing system in acceptable fashion.

Education and/or ExperienceHigh school or GED with three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Training and experience using a multi-line phone system is required.
Incumbent must have systems aptitude to develop a thorough knowledge of the claims and inquiry processing system, related payment policies and medical terminology.
Language SkillsAbility to ready and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization. Bilingual/bi-literate ability in English and Spanish is required.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to utilize basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculate percentages and fractions is required.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
