- Competitive salary Excellent Benefits Package About the Company Our client is an established North West commercial contractor specialising in design, refurbishment and fit out projects across a range of sectors. The business has developed a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial projects for landlords, investors and private companies, with particular expertise in CAT A refurbishments and CAT B fit outs within the office sector.
With an experienced management team and a strong pipeline of projects, the business works closely with clients throughout the full project lifecycle, delivering projects on time, within budget and to a high standard. Their work includes significant M&E elements, with projects involving the renewal and installation of complete M&E systems and associated plant.
The Role The business is looking to appoint an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Stockport. The role will focus on the commercial management of M&E packages across CAT A and CAT B fit-out projects, working closely with the project, commercial and operational teams to ensure costs are effectively controlled and projects are delivered successfully. This is an excellent opportunity for an M&E QS who wants to work within a growing fit-out contractor and have genuine responsibility across a varied portfolio of commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities Commercial management of M&E packages across CAT A and CAT B fit-out projects Managing costs from pre-construction through to final account Reviewing M&E specifications, drawings and tender documentation Preparing and reviewing M&E budgets and cost plans Managing subcontract procurement and negotiating competitive packages Reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotations Preparing valuations, payment applications and payment assessments Managing variations, change control and additional works Monitoring project costs, forecasts and commercial performance Preparing CVRs and financial reports Managing subcontractor accounts through to final account Identifying commercial risks and opportunities Working closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers and site teams Attending client and subcontractor meetings as required Supporting the estimating and pre-construction process Ensuring projects are commercially controlled and delivered within budget Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
The Ideal Candidate The successful M&E Quantity Surveyor will have:
Proven experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor Strong experience within commercial fit out or refurbishment Experience working on CAT A and/or CAT B projects Strong understanding of M&E construction packages and associated costs Experience managing M&E subcontractors and supply chain partners Strong knowledge of procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail Strong Excel and general IT skills Good communication and negotiation skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects or packages Experience working for a main contractor or specialist fit-out contractor A relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification would be advantageous
