The Penticton Seniors? Drop In Centre Society is a community-funded, volunteer-powered, public access, non-profit drop-in centre in Penticton. Membership is available to anyone 50+ and many of our engaging activities and events are open to non-members in the wider community. Join our dynamic team as a Bookkeeper and become a vital part of our financial operations! In this energetic role, you will manage core accounting functions, ensure accurate financial record-keeping, and support the overall financial health of our Society.

Your expertise will help us maintain compliance with accounting standards and deliver precise financial reports that drive informed decision-making. Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts using the accounting software Quick Books.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure consistency across all financial statements
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately
  • Record journal entries, including debits & credits, ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger accounting to verify financial integrity
  • Manage payroll processing and related tax compliance activities with precision
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, including budget analysis and account analysis, to support organizational decision-making
Requirements
  • Proficiency in accounting the software Quick Books.
  • Strong understanding of non profit accounting principles, governmental accounting, and non-profit accounting practices
  • Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation processes
  • Experience with bank reconciliation, account analysis, and account reconciliation techniques
  • Familiarity with GAAP standards and technical accounting concepts
  • Ability to handle accounts payable/receivable processes efficiently while maintaining accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills with 10 key typing proficiency for data entry tasks
  • Basic budgeting skills to assist in financial planning activities
  • Tax experience related to payroll taxes or other organizational tax obligations is a plus
