What is the role?
Reporting to the Construction Manager, Highways Division, the role contributes to the goals and profits of the company by supporting the Project Management team. The Coordinator assists in building roads primarily with paving works and recycling, working closely with the field Superintendent and Project Manager to provide assistance as required. This position is based in Penticton: 50% in the office and 50% at the site, which often requires on‑site presence during the production season.
Duties And Responsibilities Are
Track and reconcile materials supplied and delivered
Manage and track truck haul tickets and summarize using spreadsheets
Maintain daily and weekly inventory balances for pits, stockpiles, transfers, and job consumption
Reconcile scale tickets, haul sheets, and production logs; investigate discrepancies proactively
Coordinate with foremen, pit managers, and trucking to align physical counts with system balances
Prepare month‑end inventory roll‑forwards and variance explanations for Finance
Track material quality documentation (QC results, gradations) aligned to usage and pay items
Assist Accounts Payable with invoicing
Ensure timely accurate communication of all information and completion of all required documentation
Help the Project Manager prepare progress reports and invoices for work completed
Assist in the estimating process by evaluating bid specifications and drawings to ensure that everything that is required for a successful bid is addressed
Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identify qualified subcontractors; negotiate price; follow up as required to ensure bids are received
Review projects, analyzing and documenting estimated vs. actual costs, and the whole job – what was done, when, how, why; use this data for estimating work/projects
Review contracts concerning insurance and bonding; order bonding
Ensure timely and accurate communication of all information/documentation
Identify and implement efficiencies, process improvements and ways to save money
Using the company ERP: SAP
What do we value?
Entry level requires a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a Bachelor’s degree or relevant industry experience
Strong understanding of construction methods, contracts, and project coordination processes
Strong knowledge of civil construction practices, including grading, paving, and utilities
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Minimum Class 5 Driver’s license with a clean abstract
Preferred
Experience working with contractors on municipal or highway projects; knowledge of ERP: SAP
Familiarity with local regulations and standards (e.g., provincial specifications)
Experience with quantity tracking and cost control systems
Working Conditions
Combination of office and field work environments
Travel to project sites may be required
Living out allowance (LOA) is provided when working remote
Ability to work in a fast‑paced construction environment with changing priorities
Salary range is between $68,000-$80,000/yr, depending on qualifications and experiences.
