Description
Currently seeking Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) certified instructors Level 2 and above who are available for the full winter season (approximately the end of November until mid April). International equivalent certifications are accepted, level of equivalency is determined by Big White.
Candidates with demonstrable experience of working with children in a sporting environment are preferred.
Candidates possessing snowboard qualifications and additional Snow sports instructing certifications are preferred. Examples of desirable qualifications are:
Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) certifications
CASI Snowpark certifications
Applicants should submit:
Resume or CV that includes emails of two contactable references
Copy of any relevant current certifications
Duties and responsibilities
Deliver snowboard and ski lessons following CASI and Big White Ski & Board School’s teaching methodology.
Develop lesson content to create a safe and fun learning experience for children aged 4 to 12.
Assess student progress and complete achievement records.
Safeguard guests and fellow workers as appropriate.
Embrace the KC motto of safety + fun = more fun when interacting with internal and external customers to create a memorable alpine experience.
Demonstrate effective problem solving while working cooperatively with Big White staff.
Take appropriate action to deal with incidents and emergencies as per company procedures.
Position requirements
Minimum of Level CASI level 2 (or the international equivalent) and above is strongly preferred
Strong interpersonal skills
A satisfactory criminal record check
Ability to carry 40lbs/18kg while skiing/riding
Ability to assist a fallen skier/snowboarder back onto their feet
Ability to lift 40lbs/18kg
Ability to ski/ride for 6-7 hours a day
Criminal Record Checks
All employees are subject to criminal record checks at Big White Ski Resort. It is the responsibility of the employee to provide a current criminal record check.
NOTE:
All employment offers to foreign nationals are conditional upon individuals obtaining their own valid working holiday visas for the coming winter season.
Wage
Hourly base wage is $20.50 for Level 1, $23.50 for Level
2. Wage increases are based on relevant instructing certifications and time-based accruals.
