About the Faculty of Health and Social Development  The Faculty of Health and Social Development (FHSD) is dedicated to advancing human and societal wellbeing through excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. The Faculty brings together a diverse portfolio of programs spanning health, social work, nursing, kinesiology, and interdisciplinary health sciences, with a strong commitment to addressing complex health and social challenges across the lifespan and within diverse communities.

FHSD is home to a dynamic and growing community of faculty, staff, and students, and plays a vital role in supporting the University’s mission to create a healthier, more equitable society.

Position Overview  An exciting opportunity exists to take on a senior leadership role at one of the world’s top universities, within a vibrant and rapidly growing campus that is deeply connected to its region and community partners. Reporting to the Provost and Vice‑President, Academic, UBC Okanagan, the Dean will provide strategic, academic, and operational leadership to the Faculty and serve as a key member of the campus executive leadership team.

The Dean will be responsible for advancing the Faculty’s vision and priorities, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, strengthening research impact, and enhancing the quality and reach of its educational programs.
Qualifications  The successful candidate will be an accomplished academic leader with a distinguished record of scholarship and teaching, and a demonstrated ability to lead complex academic units in a collegial and inclusive manner. The Dean will bring a clear vision for the future of health and social development education and research, with a commitment to innovation, interdisciplinarity, and community‑engaged scholarship. Experience building and sustaining partnerships with health systems, community organizations, government, and Indigenous communities will be essential.

The successful candidate will be eligible for appointment as a Full Professor at UBC and will have an established record of administrative experience, academic excellence, including sustained scholarly contributions, teaching effectiveness, and significant service to the academic and broader community.
Salary  The expected base salary range for this position is $250,000 - $300,000.
