Position  Elementary School Teacher
Overview  Seeking an elementary teacher for a highly unique school in a rural setting in the South Okanagan. Senpaq'cin is a First Nations Authorized Primary Years Program (IB PYP) with the International Baccalaureate World School. The role of the IB-PYP teacher is to build and maintain a successful inquiry program centered around our local First Nations culture and protocols.
Responsibilities   Designing, preparing, implementing, reflecting, evaluating, and reporting learning experiences that align with BC curriculum and the IB PYP curriculum framework.
Creating differentiated learning experiences to meet the learning needs of the students within the classroom environment.
Providing opportunity for student-initiated action from deep exploration of inquiry lessons.
Collaborating with other teachers to share new ideas, approaches and professional knowledge.
Communicating accurately, regularly and meaningfully with families of students.
Contributing to the extracurricular programs offered within the school environment.
Collaborating with the Okanagan Language Team to integrate First Nations language and culture into the program of inquiry and daily instructional practice where applicable.
Willingness to understand implement trauma informed strategies to support the emotional health of the student population.

Minimum Qualifications   BC Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate
PYP training or experience is an asset
Experience working within a First Nation school or organization
Willingness to learn the Okanagan Language alongside the students
Valid Driver's License
Other Related Employment Information  Candiate must have excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with others, is a solution-based problem solver and has strong organizational skills.
Start Date  August 24, 2026
Hours of Work  Monday to Friday 8:00am to 3:30 pm
Term of Employment  10 month contract with the option to extend from year to year. Term of Employment Short Term employment from June 22 to
Pay Rate  Based on SD 53 teacher wage scale
