Position: Employment Facilitator
Do you have a passion for supporting youth and young adults to build a sense of belonging?

Do you want to be part of a team that supports vulnerable participants at critical transition points, providing the community supports they need for vocational attainment and future success?

Do you want to engage participants in personal growth through creative group activities and discussions?

If the following sounds like meaningful work, this might be the job for you!

Help participants who have barriers to seeking and maintaining employment, find work or return to work by providing employment coaching, assessments, group-based workshops, and developing community connections with employers and service providers.

Ongoing marketing and promotion, recruitment and selection of participants, and preparation of materials and facilities for each stream of service described above.

Provide 7-weeks of employment skills activities to participant groups, including presentations on effective communication, critical thinking, interview and resume skills, financial management, and workplace safety.

Dedicate time and resources to participants in the areas of basic needs attainment, career exploration, work search, and job maintenance.

Develop action plans with realistic, achievable, goals and outcomes which will lead to participant’s successful entry to the labour market.

Monitor participant progress and conduct follow-ups during work placements and work experience, and report on participant successes and outcomes.

Ability to work independently, make decisions, and execute work with minimal support, in an environment with many urgent and competing priorities

Models sensitivity to the diverse needs of participants, such as literacy, emotional, social, behavioural, and cultural differences and ensure participant information is kept confidential

Promotes philanthropy and volunteerism through the YMCA.

We’d love to hear from people with:

Post secondary degree/diploma in child and youth work, education, Social Work, recreation, or related field.

2 years of experience working directly with vulnerable youth

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, Suicide Intervention Certification preferred or readiness to complete

Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Working knowledge in culturally sensitive and trauma-informed practice, and strength-based approach

Computer proficiency

Service Orientated:  Deliberately identifies and creates opportunities to enhance each and every individual's YMCA experience. Creates action plans to resolve any service gap areas.

Builds positive interactions, listens attentively and communicates effectively to create an open communication environment. Share information, best practices, and resources with colleagues.

Provide 3 references of a professional nature (Ex. employer, supervisor, colleague, teacher, coach, etc.)
