Contribute to the heritage of the Okanagan language at Tuc-el-Nuit Elementary School as a Grades K-7 Okanagan Language Teacher. This role emphasizes language proficiency and nurturing cultural connections.
Tuc-el-Nuit Elementary School is looking for a 0.4 FTE continuing Okanagan Language Teacher to commence on September 1, 2026. Candidates should have a First Nations Language Teacher Certificate and relevant teaching experience in the Okanagan language. Your main goal will be to provide students with social, emotional, and cultural competencies while implementing effective teaching and assessment strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging Okanagan language lessons to Grades K-7
• Promote emotional and cultural awareness among students
• Apply modern instructional practices in the classroom
• Work collaboratively with the professional school community
• Incorporate technology into lesson planning
Requirements:
• First Nations Language Teacher Certificate in Okanagan Language
• Current teaching experience in Okanagan language
• Fluency in Okanagan and English languages
• Strong organizational and classroom management capabilities
• Proficiency in integrating technology into education
