Salary range: $71,846 to $115,129 with normal starting salary between $78,872 and $85,897 annually, dependent on relevant education and experience.

Schedule:

Given on-call nature of position, schedule and frequency of instruction may vary. Typical instructional day is 6 hours to 7.5 hours long. Typical instructional week can be Monday to Thursday or Monday to Friday and would not exceed 30 hours. Initial on-call contract is setup until Jun 30, 2028 but is not a guarantee of work for the entire contract period.

Work can be anywhere from one day to several weeks.

Your Opportunity
  • The duties and responsibilities of a Vocational Instructor include continuing excellence in one's field, instructional and professional duties, professional development and service.
Functions and Duties
  • Instructional duties may include any or all of the following: instructional (teaching assignments); course and program preparation and revision; student contact; student advising; evaluation and marking of student work and other functions related to instruction.
  • Professional duties may include any or all of the following: curriculum development, student registration and pre-registration duties.
  • Professional development is activity intended to promote teaching excellence, subject area competence and technical competence in the area of professional or instructional expertise.
  • Service may include any or all of the following: school visitations; participation on OC committees; attendance at articulation meetings; representing OC at other function; administrative and other duties.
Education and Experience
  • Successful completion of a related apprenticeship program and a Certificate of Apprenticeship with an Interprovencial endorsement.
  • An undergraduate degree and post-secondary teaching experience are preferred; however, applicants with an equivalent combination of teaching and work experience may be considered.
  • An Instructor's Diploma or valid BC Teacher's Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred and will be required following appointment in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
  • Six to ten years recent relevant experience.
