Lead sustainable waste management efforts with the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen as a Solid Waste Operations Coordinator in Penticton, BC. This full-time role ensures safe and compliant operations at landfill and organic facilities.
The Regional District is seeking a temporary Solid Waste Operations Coordinator to join its Public Works team. You will provide technical guidance and field support while coordinating day-to-day operations at various solid waste facilities. Your expertise will help maintain compliance with environmental regulations and operational certificates.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate operation and maintenance of solid waste facilities
• Support compliance with environmental regulations
• Provide operational guidance to Heavy Equipment Operators
• Monitor compost production controls and market quality objectives
• Liaise with contractors for service delivery compliance
Requirements:
• Post-secondary certificates in environmental studies or related fields
• Completion of BC Qualified Landfill Operators course
• Minimum five years of solid waste industry experience
• Knowledge of safety methods and legislation
• Valid First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain
