Market Lead, Energy (Canada West) will lead WSP’s Energy strategy across western Canada and beyond. This senior leadership role involves overseeing projects, managing key accounts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and growing the Energy portfolio while delivering service excellence.
Responsibilities
Lead and grow the Energy practice in Western Canada.
Act as a technical market leader, applying advanced knowledge and serving as a top “go‑to” resource.
Make decisions on highly complex work approaches for project components and team tasks.
Anticipate business needs, secure required resources, and lead initiatives to implement organizational change.
Recommend and participate in decision-making on technical and complex aspects of WSP projects.
Be accountable for certain client accounts and engagements within the Energy group.
Support growth of technical disciplines required for Energy.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, providing oversight and governance for major projects.
Provide governance on Energy jobs, including quality, and lead proposals.
Collaborate with internal departments and stakeholders to improve quality and project delivery, including managing subconsultants.
Mentor and coach other Energy staff.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 18 years of experience, including at least 10 years in a leadership role in the Energy sector.
Hands‑on experience with project delivery.
Engineering degree in a related discipline or technical diploma from a post‑secondary institution.
Proven business development experience with an existing network in the Western Canadian Energy market within British Columbia.
Strong financial and business acumen, including managing business operations and/or a P&L.
Deep understanding of the energy sector, including key industry trends, LNG, energy transformation, and decarbonization.
Negotiation and client‑relationship skills.
P.Eng. or P.Tech. designation is an asset.
Bilingual (French and English) is an asset.
Compensation
BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $147,500 – $195,400
MB & ON: $134,600 – $184,600
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $133,200 – $176,900
