JOB OVERVIEW
The Wastewater Treatment Technician (Chemist) reports to the Repair Shop Supervisor and is responsible for the efficient operation of the Plating Shop. Our Plating Shop has approximately 30 tanks which are used for various electroplating processes for cadmium, chrome, nickel and chemical conversion of aluminum.
The Wastewater Treatment Technician (Chemist) maintains the Plating shop Wastewater Treatment Plant. Provides technical knowledge in all aspects of Wastewater Treatment. Training will be provided to the incumbent, which may involve some initial travel.
The Plating Shop Technician (Chemist) provides technical expertise to the Plating Shop in all aspects of performance management, employee development, and project progress management. Training will be provided to the incumbent, which may involve some initial travel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant in accordance with KF Aerospace procedures.Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the plating processes in accordance with KF Aerospace, Customer, and process specification requirementsReviews workload and assigns tasks to ensure timely completion of required plating operationsMaintains and adjusts process solutions to comply with plating specificationsAnalyzes solutions, performs production tests / inspections and maintains records for all testing requirementsEnsures that all health, safety, and environmental regulations are adhered toIdentifies, initiates, recommends, or provides solutions to quality problems through designated channelsResponsible for the treatment of plating shop wastewater and disposal of waste chemicalsArranges the bi-annual air emissions stack testing (point of contact with consultants)Arranges the annual calibration of the plating shop equipment (point of contact with vendors)Point of contact for plating shop quality auditsWorks closely with technicians in other areas of the shop to ensure efficiency of workProvides coverage in other areas as requiredOther duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS
Must have strong chemical background, graduates from a Chemical Science Technology program or equivalent will be given preference. (such as Chemical & Environmental Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, Mining Process Engineering Technology)Experience operating wastewater treatment plantPlating experience will be considered an asset such as;experience with maintaining and adjustments of process solutionsverification / analysis of solutions plating cadmium (bright, low hydrogen embrittlement, brush on) chemical conversion of aluminum alloyelectro-chemical stripping of inorganic finisheshard chrome platingelectro deposited nickel platingsurface treatment of ferrous alloysquality inspections of plated products experience with aerospace plating specificationsStrong communication skills, both written and verbalProblem solver with the ability to work independently, and as a team memberStrong understanding of environmental conditionsSafety consciousSolid administrative skillsAble to lead by exampleBENEFITS
