Technical Lead, Drinking Water Treatment Engineer
Role Overview
As part of our continued growth, AECOM is seeking a Technical Lead, Drinking Water Treatment Engineer to provide technical leadership within our BC Water Team. This role offers the opportunity to shape and lead complex water treatment solutions that support safe, resilient, and sustainable communities across the province.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the modeling and simulation of drinking water treatment processes using advanced computational tools and techniques.
- Ensure designs comply with all applicable environmental regulations and standards.
- Conduct assessments and identify areas for improvement in existing water treatment systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement innovative water treatment solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff.
- Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and documentation for regulatory submissions.
- Engage with stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, clients, and community members, to discuss project developments and compliance matters.
- Assist with the planning and pursuit of new business opportunities.
- Use creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented technical problems.
- Provide visible industry and technical leadership within and outside AECOM.
- Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant engineering experience in drinking water treatment engineering or equivalent.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the province of BC (or eligible to become registered within 12 months).
- 20+ years of experience in drinking water treatment engineering with a focus on developing client‑focused solutions and achieving modeling and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of water quality standards, treatment processes, and environmental regulations.
- Expertise in water treatment modeling software and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of local, provincial, and federal regulations related to water treatment and quality.
- AWWA certifications or other relevant water treatment specialties preferred.
Travel as needed for project site visits and client meetings.
