The Resort Municipality of Osoyoos, BC located in the beautiful south Okanagan Valley is accepting applications for the position of Chief Wastewater Operator
.

Position Overview: Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor, the Chief Wastewater Operator oversees the operation, maintenance, repair, and optimization of the Town's wastewater treatment plant, lift stations, and collection system. This position monitors system performance, conducts testing and inspections, coordinates maintenance programs, mentors staff, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The role also supports capital projects, maintains operational records and inventories, responds to emergencies, participates in the after-hours standby rotation, and assists with the operation and maintenance of the Town's water and stormwater infrastructure as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • EOCP Wastewater Treatment Level II.
  • EOCP Wastewater Collection Level II.
  • EOCP Water Treatment Level I.
  • EOCP Water Distribution Level I.
  • BCWWA Chlorine Handlers Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Valid BC Class 3 Driver's Licence with Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of wastewater treatment operational experience, preferably in a municipal environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a senior operator or leadership role.
  • WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) training.
  • Training in confined space entry, excavations, fall protection, and underground utility locating.
  • CCTV inspection, wastewater sampling, hydrovac, and sewer jetting training.
  • Crane truck operator certification.
  • Waterborne illness prevention training.

Days of Work: This position is part of the after-hours emergency standby rotation, responds to callouts, alarms, emergency situations and is required to be available on a rotational basis for weekend on-call as required. Must be able to respond within a maximum of 30 minutes to a call out.

Hours per Week: Full-time 40/week – Unionized position

Hourly Rate: $46.82/hour plus a generous benefits package
