The Estimator Drafter is a full-time, on‑site role based in Penticton, BC, responsible for supporting fabrication projects from quotation through production. This position involves interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, preparing detailed cost estimates for materials, machining, fabrication, and assembly, and developing clear, accurate shop drawings and fabrication details. The Estimator Drafter collaborates closely with engineering, production, procurement, and sales teams to clarify requirements, optimize manufacturability, and maintain alignment with project budgets and timelines.
Qualifications- Candidates should possess strong mechanical drafting skills, including proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar) and the ability to produce clear fabrication and assembly drawings.
- Candidates should possess estimation and cost analysis skills, including experience calculating material, labor, and machining costs and preparing detailed project quotations.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly welding, machining, cutting, and heavy fabrication practices, along with an understanding of Design for Manufacturability.
- Candidates should possess strong technical reading and communication skills, including the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Candidates should possess organization and accuracy skills, including attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects, and maintain precise documentation and records.
- Relevant qualifications such as a diploma or degree in mechanical engineering technology, drafting, or a related field, and experience in a fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment are beneficial.
- Familiarity with industrial, mining, forestry, or heavy equipment sectors, and knowledge of applicable standards and tolerances, would be an asset.
