Location: Summerland
District of Summerland Bylaw Enforcement Officer I
The District of Summerland, located in the Okanagan Valley, seeks a full‑time Enforcement Officer I to serve the community.
Responsibilities include:
- Processing and responding to public enquiries and complaints related to the District’s bylaws.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships between the community and the District through education and voluntary compliance.
- Investigating and enforcing bylaws, regulations, and provincial acts when necessary to ensure compliance.
- Adhering to Provincial Court procedures and the Bylaw Notice Adjudication System in order to interpret and enforce bylaw requirements.
Qualifications and required knowledge:
- Sound knowledge of municipal bylaws and provincial statutes and regulations, including the Community Charter, Local Government Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Familiarity with Provincial Court procedures, the Bylaw Notice Adjudication System, and related adjudication processes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to demonstrate tact, courtesy, and discretion.
This is a full‑time (
40 hours per week) CUPE position offering an hourly rate of $42.36 and a competitive benefits package, including a municipal pension plan.
