We are looking for a collaborative and customer-focused professional to join our IT team as an Application Support Technician on a 10-month term.
An Application Support Technician provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 functional and technical support for the City’s business applications and related business processes. The role serves as a first point of contact for application-related issues and user questions, while also supporting the ongoing operation, improvement, adoption, and minor automation opportunities within assigned systems.
Responsibilities
First point of contact for application-related incidents, service requests, and user questions.
Investigates, prioritizes, troubleshoots, and resolves lower-complexity application and system issues affecting day-to-day operations.
Assists with application administration, configuration changes, access support, testing, upgrades, releases, and documentation updates.
Supports business units and end users by answering questions, providing guidance, and helping staff use systems effectively and consistently.
Develops and maintains support procedures, knowledge articles, user guides, FAQs, templates, reports, dashboards, and training materials.
Participates in testing and validation of fixes, minor enhancements, and system updates to help ensure changes are implemented successfully.
Identifies recurring issues, process inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve application support, business workflows, service delivery methods, and automation within assigned systems, and makes recommendations for improvement.
Works with Business Systems Analysts, vendors, and business units to escalate more complex issues and support analysis and resolution activities.
Assists with smaller-scale analysis, process documentation, testing, enhancement-related work, and simple automation support activities under the guidance of senior staff.
Supports onboarding, training, and knowledge transfer for users and staff.
Qualifications
Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related field.
2 years of relevant experience.

Starts at $46.06 per hour plus 14% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays, and benefits.
Training Opportunity
Testing may be required. If no fully qualified candidates apply, those not fully qualified may be considered for a training opportunity. Training rates will apply.
