Sign Language Interpreter

We are looking for a dedicated  Sign Language Interpreter  to work within a team environment, facilitating language expression and comprehension using American Sign Language, tutoring students, adapting teaching materials, compiling and updating student records, and monitoring student behavior.

Qualifications

Successful completion of Grade 12

Graduate of an accredited interpreter training program

Previous experience interpreting in an educational setting is an asset

At least six (6) months experience working with Deaf students with language delays

Strong interpersonal communication skills

Willingness to work collaboratively as a member of the IEP (Individual Education Program) team

Consideration will be given to candidates who are also fluent in ASL-French language interpreting

These casual and/or 10‑month permanent positions (27.5 hrs / week) offer a wage rate of $48.00 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits plan that includes extended health and dental care and participation in the Municipal Pension Plan.

Successful applicants will be required to complete the District's Health & Safety training and consent to a Criminal Record Check.
