Shift supervisor, Manufacturing ​/ Production

Position Overview

We are seeking a Shift Supervisor based in our Grand Forks location to join the Operations team. This position works a rotating schedule of 3 days on and 3 days off, with 12‑hour day and night shifts (7:00–7:00). The Shift Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager and oversees 12‑15 direct reports.

• Oversee daily production, ensuring employees meet health and safety requirements, production quality specifications, KPIs, and deadlines.
• Coordinate, motivate, support, and guide crews to maintain a safe and efficient production while communicating daily events and corrective actions.
• Drive company growth by optimizing resources, enhancing productivity, and maintaining high safety and quality standards.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety rules and housekeeping routines.
• Enter Good Catches into the reporting database and ensure they are mitigated.
• Adhere to environmental policies and procedures.
• Manage daily operations of Line and/or PSM departments to meet production KPIs.
• Follow the daily production schedule, set up crews, and notify personnel of schedule deviations.
• Document events and outstanding issues, including corrective actions taken.
• Co‑ordinate with shift maintenance to ensure continuous operations.
• Manage rework and scrap, identify root causes, and mitigate production defects.
• Ensure correct completion of ROPEX boards and other communications.
• Coordinate crews during emergencies, maintaining safety and leading incident investigations.
• Read and communicate daily Operational Notes to crew members; participate in Tier1 and Tier2 Production Meetings.
• Communicate management directives, coach, develop, and train the team for continuous improvement.
• Create and manage detailed shift reports and project documentation.
• Approve employee time and drive ROPEX initiatives.

• 2 to 5 years of production supervisory experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• University or Technical College graduate (preferably in Business Management, Operations Management, or Engineering) or equivalent experience.
• High safety and quality standards.
• Sound understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience working with a unionized workforce.
• Exceptional communication and team‑building skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• People development and training skills.
• Drive, commitment, self‑motivation, and high energy.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, managing stressful situations.
