Overview

Kelowna General Hospital in beautiful Kelowna, B.C. is seeking a motivated and highly organized permanent full‑time Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) to join and lead our dynamic Hemodialysis team. This role is central to supporting specialized kidney care services, and we are specifically looking for candidates with a Nephrology Nursing Certificate. This position works rotating days from 07:00 to 15:00.

Responsibilities
  • The Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and within a patient- and family-centered care model.
  • The PCC is responsible for the coordination of day-to-day operations and quality patient care within designated clinical area(s).
  • This position supports the seamless movement of patients through the healthcare system and in accessing appropriate resources.
  • The PCC supervises as well as serves as a role model and a resource to staff for clinical decision-making, clinical assessments of patients, and the counseling and education of families.
  • Reviews, analyses and makes recommendations on the development of administrative systems such as policies, procedures and standards of patient care, adequate staffing levels, and a continuous quality improvement setting.
  • Liaises with the interdisciplinary team for identification, coordination and efficient utilization of resources as well as plans for staff educational needs.

Qualifications
  • Education, Training and

    Experience:
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area, three years of recent related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment and two years recent supervisory and teaching experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current CPR certification required.
