Interior Health is looking for a temporary part‑time Nurse Practitioner to join the multidisciplinary cardiac surgery team at Kelowna General Hospital. The role involves independent and collaborative patient management throughout the continuum of inpatient cardiac surgery care, on‑call may be required.
Salary Range: $76.61/hour – $84.27/hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within this range based on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and treat undifferentiated diseases and conditions, provide treatment, and prescribe medications within the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice and regulatory standards.
- Monitor ongoing care, order diagnostic investigations, interpret results, and develop tailored treatment plans to optimize patient outcomes.
- Establish care priorities, provide follow‑up treatment, and communicate effectively with patients and families about diagnoses, care plans, and prognoses.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and create individualized treatment plans.
- May admit and discharge patients as per organizational policies.
- Prescribe medications within legal and regulatory guidelines, ensuring safe and effective use.
- Lead and guide other nursing and healthcare personnel, provide education, supervision, and performance evaluations.
- Contribute to research aimed at enhancing patient care and advancing nursing practices.
- Participate in initiatives to influence healthcare policies and population health strategies.
- Lead health promotion activities and screenings focused on at‑risk populations.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary education through case presentations, mentoring, and collaboration.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies related to nursing, interdisciplinary care, and health system practices.
- Serve as the most responsible provider for patients in palliative, hospice, and long‑term care settings when required.
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines, maintain a safe and healthy work setting, and comply with training and incident investigation protocols.
- Perform other duties as necessary to support patient care and organizational goals.
