Position: Clinical Practice Educator | Hemodialysis Emergency Support Team (HEST)
Location: Penticton

Penticton Regional Hospital is seeking a relief full-time Clinical Practice Educator, Hemodialysis Emergency Support Team (HEST). In this role, you will provide clinical leadership and education in hemodialysis and renal care while supporting a specialized provincial emergency response team that delivers dialysis services during emergencies and natural disasters. A Nephrology Certificate is required.
This relief position is until January 29, 2027, or the return of the incumbent.

Shift Times: Days from 07:00 to 17:00

What will you work on?

The Clinical Practice Educator, Hemodialysis Emergency Support Team (HEST), works as part of a provincial emergency response team responsible for providing provincial hemodialysis care in the event of an emergency or natural disaster. The HEST nurse may only provide provincial support once or twice a year. The HEST team is a professional group under the guidance of the BC Renal Administrators committee.

The HEST team will be assembled to address the immediate hemodialysis emergency. When the crisis has ended, the team will return to their normal operating systems within their health authority.
The Clinical Practice Educator (HEST) provides leadership in the delivery of care activities in providing hemodialysis and renal care clinical expertise, utilizing an evidence informed, patient centered and culturally safe approach. Provides input to Program Manager or designate regarding staffing skill mix and provides clinical leadership, guidance and support to team members. Acts as a clinical resource for nurses, nursing students and the interdisciplinary team.

Assists staff in providing quality care and related quality assurance requirements for people living with kidney disease, by providing information based on theory/practice, assessing clinical/technical skills and participating in the direct patient care as appropriate, in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.
