Join the City of Penticton as a full-time Parks Technician dedicated to urban forestry and GIS management. This vital role combines outdoor work with project coordination and technical analysis.
As a permanent member of the Parks Department, you will oversee the implementation of the Urban Forest Management Plan and manage various parks-related projects. Your responsibilities will include maintaining GIS systems, leading urban forest initiatives, and collaborating with Engineering and Operations teams. This multifaceted position involves both indoor and outdoor work year-round.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement actions outlined in the Urban Forest Management Plan
• Lead Parks GIS program and maintain asset management data
• Provide technical guidance on urban forestry initiatives
• Manage advanced GIS work for planning and analysis
• Develop community outreach educational programs
Requirements:
• Post-secondary degree in relevant field
• 1-3 years of experience with GIS software
• Some knowledge of urban forestry best practices
• Valid BC Drivers' License Class 5
