- Install built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel
- Install single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials, such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
- Repair or replace shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings
- Repair roofing systems
- Instruct apprentices
- Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools
- Install sheet metal flashings
- Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms
- Cut materials using power tools or by hand
- Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
- Fall Arrest Protection Training Course Work conditions and physical capabilities
