Position Status: Casual(On call relief staff for a 24/7 operation)
Location: West Kelowna,BC
Hoursof Work: 10-hour shifts offered with the following times: 6:30 am - 4:30 pm, 11:00am - 9:00pm, 8:45 pm - 6:45 am. Required availability includes at least one shift fromeach time slot per week.
Rateof Pay: $31.56 to $33.49
Areyou passionate about providing support, security, and advocacy to program participants andtheir children who are at risk of or fleeing domestic abuse? The Kelowna Women’s Shelter Transition House in West Kelowna is seeking a dedicated casual Frontline Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part inoffering information, education, crisis intervention, and temporary housing for program participants and their children in need.
Position Duties:
- Answer incoming crisis calls, provide support, and screen potential program participants.
- Admit and discharge, program participants; assess risk, create safety plans, and orient new program participants.
- Provideactive listening, clarification, needs assessment, and goal setting.
- Ensure safety and comfort of program participants and their children and facilitate and resolveconflicts.
- Arrangetransportation and perform household tasks.
- Maintain records, liaise with other agencies, and attend meetings/training.
- Orientand assign duties to new staff, volunteers, and/or students as directed.

Position Requirements:
- Diplomain a related human/social service field with one-year recent related experience or equivalent.
- Good working knowledge of domestic abuse and community resources.
- Abilityto provide feminist-centered support with empathy and respect.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
- Skill inassisting individuals in crisis with non-judgmental services.
- Maintainingrecords and engaging in program evaluation.
- Intermediate First Aid (OFA
2) (previously
Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR level
B) - Successful completion of a criminal record check.
