Community Support Position at BGC Okanagan

Location: Summerland

BGC Okanagan is looking for a Community Support Worker to enhance the lives of children and youth in Summerland, BC. This role emphasizes a strengths-based approach to personal growth and skill-building.

Your work will involve planning, implementing, and evaluating support programs tailored for diverse abilities. You'll help participants achieve milestones in independence by teaching essential life skills in daily living and social contexts. Collaborating with families and assessing individual needs will be key elements of your responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and implement support programs for youth

• Collaborate with families for goal planning

• Assist participants with life skills and behavior management

• Maintain accurate activity documentation

• Ensure safety and manage emergencies effectively

Requirements:

• Diploma in relevant human/social services area

• At least one year of experience in a similar role

• Class 4 driver’s licence or willingness to obtain

• Successful criminal record check process

• Union membership is a requirement
