Shape community programs and help improve lives as a Community Worker in Eeyou Istchee. Utilize your social service techniques expertise to identify needs and provide support. We are seeking a dedicated Community Worker to engage with local populations and implement various community action programs.
Key Responsibilities- Identify community needs and implement support programs
- Communicate effectively with individuals and groups
- Collaborate with medical social services and community workers
- Provide crisis counseling and maintain helping relationships
- Promote knowledge of Cree culture and communal healing practices
- Diploma in social work techniques or relevant specialization
- Fluent in Cree and English;
French is an asset - Knowledge of mental health and addiction issues
- Robust understanding of mental health issues and social dynamics in the Cree territory
- Ability to work in crisis situations
- Preferred: 1 year of relevant experience
