SOWINS seeks a dedicated PEACE Counsellor in the South Okanagan to offer psycho-educational support for children impacted by violence. This temporary, full-time role works within a client-centered framework.
You will engage in group counseling for children and provide parenting support, emphasizing emotional well-being. This role operates from Monday to Friday, involving union membership under the Health Sciences Association. You will be contributing to an organization committed to trauma-informed practices and feminist principles.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct PEACE workshops for affected youth
• Provide educational and emotional support to parents
• Utilize trauma-informed techniques in counseling
• Deliver psycho-educational resources to families
• Foster a supportive environment for healing
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in social services or similar field
• Two years relevant counseling experience
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C certification
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training required
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
