Nature of Position The Facilitator supports the delivery of the Partner Assault Response Program (PARS) byfacilitatingpsychoeducational group sessions and related individual support for participants referred to address relationship conflict, family violence, accountability, communication, parenting, and safety planning needs.
The Facilitator works collaboratively with program staff toprovideinclusive, respectful, andtrauma-informedservices whilemaintainingprofessional boundaries, confidentiality, and alignment with organizational values.
This role requires strong group facilitation skills, cultural humility, andresponsivenesstoparticipants from variedrelationship and familycontexts, including2
SLGBTQIA+ individuals, trans and non-binary people, same-gender couples, blended families,andco‑parenting arrangements.
This is a fixed‑term position from September 1,2026to August 31, 2027, inclusive.
The employment relationship will end automatically on the contract end date, with no expectation of renewal unless confirmed in writing. The role istime‑limited and contingent on programfunding, anddoes not constitute ongoing or permanent employment with KFS.
Key Responsibilities Facilitation & Program Delivery Facilitate group sessions, workshops, discussions, and related activities in a respectful, inclusive, and trauma‑informed manner
Adapt facilitation approaches to participants’ identities, experiences, communication styles, and comfort levels
Use inclusive language and practices that reflect diverse relationship structures, family systems, parenting roles, and lived experiences
Create safer group environments that encourage participation, respect, self‑determination, and shared learning
Participant Support & Inclusion Provide participant‑centred support that recognizes the impacts of trauma, systemic barriers, family violence, discrimination, marginalization, and complex relationship dynamics
Demonstrate cultural humility and responsiveness when supporting Indigenous participants, newcomers, racialized communities, people with disabilities, and people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds
Support participants whose relationship, parenting, or family experiences fall outside traditional or binary frameworks
Respect participant self‑identification, chosen names, pronouns, family language, and relationship descriptions
Identify participant needs and connect participants to appropriate internal or community resources where required
Program Planning, Documentation & Team Collaboration Prepare session materials, discussion prompts, activities, and resources with the program facilitator and administrative assistant
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in accordance with organizational policies and funder requirements
Participate in debriefs, supervision, training, and team meetings as required
Contribute to program evaluation, feedback processes, and continuous improvement efforts
Supervision,escalation and consultation The Facilitator works under the direction of the designated supervisor and is expected to seek consultation when participant needs, disclosures, safety concerns, or group dynamics require additional support or decision‑making.
Escalate urgent or complex concerns promptly in accordance with organizational policies, including concerns related to participant safety, duty to report, confidentiality, risk assessment, boundaries, or issues outside the facilitator role.
Safety, Boundaries & Ethical Practice Maintain clear professional boundaries and support group safety, including responding appropriately to conflict, disclosures, and heightened participant needs
Follow organizational policies related to confidentiality, privacy, duty to report, risk assessment, and participant safety
Recognize when participant needs fall outside the facilitator role and seek guidance, consultation, or referrals as appropriate
Practice in a manner that is non-judgmental, anti-oppressive, culturally respectful, and responsive to power dynamics
