Central Okanagan Public Schools operates within the unceded, Traditional Territory of the Okanagan syilx peoples. The School District enrolls over 25,000 students, including approximately 3,200 First Nations, Metis, and/or Inuit ancestry students, and serves the communities of Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna, and Lake Country.

School Bus Driver (0960)
This professional bus driving opportunity primarily consists of transporting students to and from school. It is ideal for individuals looking for part‑time work or those who prefer short shifts in the morning and afternoon. Extra hours are also available to transport students and staff on occasional field studies.

Responsibilities

Transport students to and from school.

Work on call throughout the district and apply to posted vacancies as they arise.

Maintain a high standard of safety and comply with all safety protocols.

Participate in the District's School Bus Driver Training Program.

Assist with transportation for field studies and other requests as needed.

Qualifications

Completed Grade 10.

Valid Class 1 or 2 BC Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement, or a Class 5 license with Class 2 Learner's and Air Brake Endorsement.

Clear Driver's Abstract.

Physical condition and health to carry out required duties safely.

Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with students.

Successful completion of a criminal record check.

Completion of the District's School Bus Driver Training Program to assume the position.

Compensation & Benefits
The hourly wage for this position is  $32.37  per hour. School Bus Drivers working on call receive 5% of bi‑weekly earnings in lieu of vacation and 5% of straight‑time earnings in each pay period in lieu of statutory holidays. After successfully completing a probationary period and attaining seniority, those working 20 hours or more per week receive 10% in lieu of benefits.

Permanent position drivers are eligible for a benefits package and pension plan and qualify for paid leaves, including short‑term and long‑term disability.
