Greetings, fellow aviators.

This is a PIC time building opportunity, and not a job posting.

New Pilots interested in flying PIC in a cost‑sharing proposal might participate in this Summer Flying Opportunity.

Mountain Flying Context

I coordinate Alpine Ecosystem Reconnaissance (AER) flights to promote the development of an RPAS‑AER program aiming to collect aerial data for environmental research. The regional extent of this program requires that I travel across mountainous terrain in AB and BC, thus I fly my certified aircraft, a well‑maintained Cessna 172 registered for private use, between various airport destinations in the region.

In this context, I welcome newly licensed CPL / PPL pilots wanting to build PIC flying hours to join me this summer on an aerial journey, sharing the benefit of flying together on a flexible schedule. If your plans align with the scope of regularly flying over majestic mountain ranges, and you consider participating in unpaid non‑commercial flights, for which we SHARE the Flying COSTS as per TC regulations, I invite you to contact me and discuss the details.

• Complete accurate flight planning, submit Flight Plans.
• Communicate accordingly with FIC / FSS and ATCs.
• Airplane examination, pre‑flight procedures, aircraft fueling, itinerary management.
• PIC responsibilities for assigned flights; proper safety, WX, and traffic management.
• Complete post‑flight procedures; airplane parking, securing, documentation.

• Participate in non‑commercial flying and cost sharing arrangements as per TC regulations; these are not aircraft rental nor aircraft block‑time arrangements; only two pilots per flight and no extra passengers are allowed.
• My COPA / COVALEN insurance allows, under given conditions, that a qualified CPL / PPL pilot may fly my aircraft as PIC; the number of insured non‑owner pilots is limited; no flights without owner presence; flight proficiency test prior to enrolling.
• Accurate flight planning, pre‑ and post‑mission pilot briefing need to be performed as per TC / NAV Canada standards; we agree on the mission objective prior to event scheduling and flight planning; safe flying principles, cockpit and mission safety to be fully observed as per TC standards and agreed SOP; serious commitment required; minimum 150 hours Total Flight time, or 120 PIC.
• PIC roles may be reassigned to prevent fatigue or to enhance safety; weather permitting, we could fly 4‑6 hours daily, up to 8‑10 on rare occasions; flexibility to adjust schedule according to variable weather conditions and flight planning info.
• Home base airport is Penticton
  , BC (CYYF); I have CPL (FIR) and GPL licenses; for pilots visiting the Okanagan, we may provide accommodation in B&B; we agree on scheduling, accommodation and ground transportation needs based on mission.
• Screening of applicants involves communication via text and email, write an expression‑of‑interest email; have a CV handy.
