Job Summary Operating out of air traffic control towers, Air Traffic Controllers (Airport/Aerodrome Controllers) provide pilots with clearances and instructions to maintain separation from other aircraft during takeoff and landing. They maintain safe and orderly flow of air traffic within the control zone and on the ground.

- Assess traffic, plan traffic flow, and separate air traffic using radar or non‑radar separation standards
- Issue clearances and instructions, relay messages and pertinent information
- Coordinate movements of arriving and departing traffic with appropriate control positions, sectors, specialties, centers, towers, flight service stations and flight information centers
- Enter information on flight data strips, electronically or in writing, and post the strips on a data board
- Operate, monitor and adjust telephone, radio, radar and other electronic equipment
- Prepare and/or complete duties and requirements as specified in unit directives
- Provide flight information and radar service to VFR aircraft
- Accommodate special users of airspace such as paradrops, military missions, photo survey flights, RPAS, etc.
- Integrate aircraft performing exercises that do not conform with the normal traffic pattern (e.g., military and civilian training flights, NAV CANADA aircraft flight checks)
- Respond to emergencies
- Other duties as required
Education:
Successful completion of high school or equivalent;
Successful completion of an Airport/Aerodrome (Tower) Air Traffic Controller training program or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years experience as a licensed Air Traffic Controller (Airport/Aerodrome Controller) in a complex environment.
Candidates will be required to provide detailed information on Air Traffic Controller training and work history and provide workplace references. The application information will be shared with a third‑party provider for pre‑screening, assessments and reference checks.
Working ConditionsMust meet the security requirements of the position; must have a valid Transport Canada Category 2 aviation medical and be willing to complete a pre‑employment drug test (including cannabis). Shift work is required. This position is onsite and not eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
