Relief Support Worker​/Personal Assistant

An elderly lady living in her own home in Kelso is seeking a cheerful and friendly Relief Support Worker to join her small, established team.

This position is to provide holiday and sickness cover, ensuring consistent care and support when regular staff are unavailable.
The role involves assisting with personal care, medication support, and meal preparation, as well as offering companionship and encouragement during mealtimes to promote wellbeing.
A driver is preferred due to the rural location.

• Position:
  Relief / Sickness and Holiday Cover
• Pay rate: £14.00 per hour
• Holiday entitlement: 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
• Probationary period: 3 months

• Support the client to ensure her safety and well-being
• Assist with personal care routines
• Support with meal preparation and encourage eating and drinking
• Maintain tidiness and cleanliness of the client’s surroundings and equipment
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the client and her family

• Kind, caring, and sensitive to the client’s needs
• Patient and cheerful
• Reliable and trustworthy
• Able to use initiative and work independently
• Respectful of privacy and confidentiality in the client’s home
• Driver preferable due to rural location

• Experience or training in medication administration and food safety desirable
• Previous experience in care is preferred but not essential — the right person with empathy, reliability, and a willingness to learn will be fully supported
