- 16 years of age and in good health
- Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification
- Experience teaching elementary swimming instruction desired
- A fitness evaluation, designed to assure competence in life saving skills, will be required prior to hiring (see personnel policies)

- To ensure the safety of the patrons in the pool and elsewhere in the facility.
- The duties of the lifeguard shall include, but not be limited to the following:
- Maintain lifeguard station and observe assigned area until properly relieved.
- Assist anyone in distress and rescue anyone in a near-drowning situation
- Administer emergency first aid and maintain life support as needed by the victim of an accident
- Summon support personnel when needed
- Observe and enforce all rules and regulations
- Educate the patrons of the need for rules and regulations
- Complete all required records and reports
- Perform routine preventative maintenance duties as assigned by the Pool Manager or the Head Guard
- Attend staff and/or in-service meetings as assigned by the Pool Manager
- Additional duties may be assigned as appropriate by the Pool Manager and/or the Head Guard
- Performance of the job will be evaluated in writing by the Pool Manager and/or the Head Guard with input from the appropriate supervisor
