- Organize and conduct an identification program for occupational therapy services by utilizing appropriate evaluation criteria, materials, procedures and recordkeeping
- Consult with parents, staff and administration regarding student needs
- Select and employ appropriate diagnostic procedures and develop guidelines for a comprehensive program
- Prepare IEP goals and objectives and maintain progress data to meet the individual needs of students receiving direct services from the occupational therapist
- Understand and comply with current legislation on children with disabilities
- Complete all required reports and records in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide supervision to certified occupational therapy assistants as per ethical and state guidelines
- Provide occupational therapy services in classroom and individual settings
- Provide supervision to District motor team assistant as per ethical and state guidelines
- Consult with school staff on appropriate practices for students with disabilities
- Function as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team and as a member of a team providing motor services to students with disabilities
- Follow Code of Ethics and maintain a high standard of professional behavior
- Understand and follow adopted District policies/procedures regarding students with disabilities
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies
- Must possess or be eligible for Washington State E.S.A. Occupational Therapist Certificate
- Must possess state licensure as an occupational therapist
- Ability to uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
- Must have experience in identifying students with exceptional needs
- Demonstrated ability to maintain individual case records according to law
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with Special Education personnel, parents and school staff when developing individual educational programs for students with disabilities
- Demonstrated ability to conduct appropriate testing, diagnosis and evaluation activities of students with disabilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of child development
- Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students and the ability to set appropriate expectations for individual students
- Willingness to participate in professional development activities designed to upgrade professional skills
- Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and evaluate students
- Physically capable of conducting therapy
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities between health care and occupational therapy personnel
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel between buildings
- Knowledge of state and federal legislation for disabilities (WAC 392-172A, IDEA ’04, Section 504, etc)
- Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned
