Job Summary

The Child Care Program Assistant greets parents, children, and visitors to the Kahtnuht'ana Duhdeldiht Campus in a courteous, professional, and service-oriented manner. The role manages visitor access, ensures safe departure of children with authorized guardians, supports childcare classrooms as needed, and collaborates with the Child Care Supervisor and Early Learning Manager to prepare monthly childcare documentation.

Essential Functions
  • Greets all visitors in a friendly, caring manner and responds positively to requests for information or assistance.
  • Enters data of enrolled students and families into the database system.
  • Monitors and maintains child care daily sign-in and sign-out sheets.
  • Prepares child care classroom sign-in and sign-out sheets.
  • Assures that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult who is authorized to receive the child.
  • Screens visitors prior to allowing entry into offices and classrooms and maintains the Emergency Release book with accurate signatures.
  • Provides support to child care classrooms when needed.
  • Handles invoices and billing system monthly.
  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws, Tribal policies, and TERO ordinance.

The incumbent may be called upon to perform other duties and tasks requested by the supervisor, consistent with the purpose of the position, department, and the Kenaitze Indian Tribe's objectives.

Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience
  • One year of clerical experience.
License/Certification
  • Must have a current CDA or obtain with 18 months of hire.
  • Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification required upon hire, or within 30 days.
  • Must have Food Handler's Card or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and remain insurable under the Tribe's policy.
Preferred
  • One year of experience working with children birth to 5 years old.
  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities.

This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times to remain in the position.
