Job Overview
The Department of Corrections, Division of Health & Rehabilitation Services is recruiting for a Physician Assistant/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse 1 position located in a Wildwood Correctional Center in Kenai, AK.

Responsibilities- Assess, diagnose, and treat emergent, urgent, and chronic care needs of inmates.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, behavior health, and social work to provide comprehensive inmate care.
- Act as liaison between the correctional facility, local physicians, and hospitals.
- Prescribe Schedule II–V drugs in accordance with State licensing requirements and prescriptive authority by the Alaska Board of Nursing or Alaska Medical Board.
- Work in a 24‑hour nursing support environment and provide coverage and phone assistance as needed.
- Eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Alaska.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Required background investigation clearance, including fingerprinting and tuberculosis screening.
- Availability for shift assignments and on‑call duties.
- Ability to maintain DEA registration and Prescription Drug Monitoring Program compliance.
- Maintenance of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent certifications as required.
- Pre‑employment clearance of criminal history and compliance with the Alaska Public Safety Information Network and Corrections Offender Management System.
- Significant autonomy in clinical decision making while working under the safety of facility security.
- Collaborative care model with nursing, behavioral health, and social work staff.
- Location in a controlled environment with 24‑hour support, ensuring patient safety and continuity of care.
- Proof of licensure in the State of Alaska (conditional offer may be provided for non‑licensed candidates).
- Driver’s license and BLS certification cards.
- Complete application via Workplace Alaska, including mandatory security clearance, background check, and TB screening.
- For foreign-educated candidates, documentation confirming equivalency to U.S. post‑secondary credentials.
- Complete any additional required educational and work experience documentation.
