Community Care Licensing Specialist 1
Position is open to Alaska residents only. The role is a full‑time position located in Kenai, Alaska within the Office of Children's Services (OCS).
OverviewThe Community Care Licensing Specialist is responsible for recruiting, supporting, assessing, investigating, and licensing foster care providers across the State of Alaska. The specialist builds resource families, ensures safe and nurturing home environments, and collaborates with rural communities and tribal partners.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit foster care homes and resource families throughout Alaska.
- Assess and investigate potential foster homes to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- License and support foster homes, providing ongoing training and guidance.
- Travel to rural communities and remote locations, often under a remote supervision model.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of licensing activities.
- Participate in investigations and case reviews related to child welfare.
- Adaptability – adjust work plans using critical thinking in a changing environment.
- Writing – clear, concise written communication with proper grammar and punctuation.
- Interpersonal Skills – empathy, courtesy, and cultural sensitivity; ability to build effective relationships.
- Attention to Detail – thoroughness in all work tasks.
- Decision Making – sound, objective decisions that consider impact on organizational goals.
- Integrity/Honesty – high ethical standards and trustworthiness.
- Preparedness to travel statewide, including remote areas where cell service is limited.
- Valid Alaska Driver's License with Real reliable transportation for travel.
- Background investigation and fingerprinting clearance.
- Experience or education in social services, education, health care, or a closely related field is preferred.
Full‑time benefits include insurance, retirement plan, paid leave, and twelve paid holidays per year. The first 12 months are probationary with training and support from supervisors and colleagues.
