Specialty Doctor - Anaesthetics

Overview

The department runs a full shift pattern with prospective cover for annual leave and study leave. The post is 10‑13 PA per week, with 1 PA per week allocated SPA.

• Join an established team of 25 consultants with 16 specialists and specialty doctors supporting all general services of the hospital including ICU, obstetrics and A&E.
• Work with some supervision in theatres, experience dependent.
• Provide on‑call residential cover over a 2‑tier rota for emergency work, in theatres, obstetrics and intensive care.
• Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
• Assess and prepare patients for theatre and provide immediate post‑operative care.
• Actively participate in and present clinical audit.
• Demonstrate evidence‑based practice where appropriate.
• Contribute to service development in areas of special interest and expertise.
• Engage in continuing medical education.
• Undertake personal appraisal and job‑planning as part of revalidation.
• Maintain requirement for revalidation.

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
• Minimum 2 years experience in anaesthetics.
• Enthusiastic, motivated individual interested in developing skills in obstetric anaesthesia, intensive care medicine and general anaesthesia.
• Willingness to cover at Royal Lancaster Infirmary and, as required, Westmorland General Hospital.

Base at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, with expected coverage at Westmorland General Hospital.
