- Operate HGVs to transport waste water and other materials safely and efficiently to designated treatment facilities.
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working order and compliant with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to execute waste water management tasks, including pumping, cleaning, and maintaining waste water treatment systems.
- Monitor and record data related to waste water levels, flow rates, and other relevant metrics to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as spillages or equipment failures, to minimize environmental impact and ensure public safety.
- Maintain accurate logs and reports of daily activities, vehicle maintenance, and waste water management operations.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Participate in training programs to enhance your skills and knowledge related to waste water management and HGV operations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of best practices for waste water management and environmental protection.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to provide updates on waste water operations and address any concerns they may have.
- Support the team in achieving operational targets and objectives while maintaining high standards of service delivery.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying areas for enhancement in processes and procedures.
- Valid HGV driving license (Class 2 or higher) with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in waste water management or a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and practices, particularly in relation to waste management.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair is advantageous.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts as needed.
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and operate heavy machinery safely.
- A proactive attitude towards learning and professional development.
- Experience in operating vacuum tankers or similar vehicles.
- Relevant certifications, such as CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) or NVQ in Waste Management.
- Familiarity with environmental legislation and best practices in waste management.
- Proficient in the use of HGVs and associated equipment for waste water management.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Competence in using technology for reporting and data management, including mobile devices and software applications.
- Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools and techniques.
- This position is based in Kendal, Cumbria, and may require travel to various sites within the region.
- The role may involve working in various weather conditions and requires physical stamina.
