Community Speech and Language Therapist

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate, and skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our Community Speech and Language Therapy Service. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive, forward-thinking team providing high-quality care to adults across a range of community settings.
Responsibilities:
- Support individuals with a wide variety of communication and swallowing needs, enabling people to maximise their independence, safety, and quality of life.
- Conduct evidence-based assessments, design treatment plans, and set goals for patients with complex, long-term conditions.
- Deliver clinical work in patients' homes, care homes, and community clinics, establishing strong therapeutic relationships.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, therapists, GPs, and care providers, to promote integrated care.
- Work autonomously while engaging in regular supervision, peer support, and ongoing professional development.
- Contribute to service improvement and the development of community-based speech and language therapy provision.
We operate from three main hospitals—Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal—as well as various community healthcare premises, including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
Our community service for adults is delivered in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP practices, and community hospitals. We aim to help people remain independent, improve their health, and manage their conditions through high-quality care, advice, and support.
Person Specification Qualifications- Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy approved by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Registered with HPC.
- Ongoing membership with the RCSLT.
- Membership of specialist interest groups.
- Experience working with adults with a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders.
- Experience in a variety of settings, including acute hospitals, community hospitals, clinics, and patients’ homes.
