Community Speech and Language Therapist

Overview

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate, and skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our Community Speech and Language Therapy Service. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive, forward‑thinking team providing high‑quality care to adults across a range of community settings.

The post holder will support individuals with a wide variety of communication and swallowing needs, enabling people to maximise their independence, safety, and quality of life. You will work with patients who have complex and long‑term conditions, using evidence‑based interventions and a person‑centred approach to assessment, treatment, and goal‑setting.

• Work with patients in their own homes, care homes and community clinics to deliver person‑centred assessment, treatment and goal‑setting.
• Use evidence‑based interventions to improve communication and swallowing function for a range of complex long‑term conditions.
• Be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with nurses, therapists, GPs and care providers.
• Promote collaborative working practices within the Speech and Language Therapy Team across Morecambe Bay.
• Provide care autonomously while receiving regular supervision, peer support and ongoing professional development.
• Contribute to service improvement and the continued development of community‑based speech and language therapy provision.

We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal – as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. Our community service for adults is provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP practices and community hospitals.
