1 x Barrow, 1 x Penrith, 1 x Kendal. This is an outreach role working on a district wide basis
Contract Type:
Fixed Term to 31st March 2029.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SEND & Neurodiversiity Practitioner to work with children and their families from pre-birth to 25 (for young people with SEND) both one to one and in groups, in settings and the family home.

We are looking for enthusiastic, innovative and self-motivated individuals to provide a high level of SEND expertise who can deliver a programme of work that will make a demonstrable difference in outcomes for children and young people and their families with special educational needs, disabilities and neurodiverse profiles.

You will have the opportunity to shape and deliver a tailored support service for families in response to SEND and neurodiversity. Working as part of the wider Family Help, Family Hubs and Early Years teams you will work closely with SEND partners and schools across Westmorland and Furness to initiate parent and carer engagement, to assess need and to deliver appropriate group and individual support with a particular focus on routines, sleep and behavioural challenges.

we are looking for…

We are looking for individuals with strong people skills, including facilitation and negotiation, and excellent communication skills, both written, face‑to‑face and over Teams.

We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience of SEND and neurodiverse conditions and working with young children, their parents and families, as well as experience of leading effective projects. You will also have experience of measuring and reporting on outcomes to evidence the impact of the project.

You will need the ability to prioritise and manage work effectively, and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. You will also have experience of collaborating across teams and partners to achieve positive outcomes for families.
