Role Overview

Community Occupational Therapist based in Kendal, which serves the South Lakes area, Sedbergh, and occasionally Penrith.

Contract Details
  • Pay: £34.31 per hour umbrella.
  • Duration:
    Initial 3 month contract with likely extension until a permanent post is filled.
  • Working hours:

    37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Schedule:

    At least three days per week in the office or community for team collaboration.
  • Benefits:

Key Responsibilities
  • Move and handle assessments.
  • Plan and provide equipment and adaptations, including seating solutions.
  • Conduct functional, physical, cognitive, and emotional assessments.
  • Design and implement individualized intervention programmes.
  • Support rehabilitation and recovery through therapeutic activities.
  • Educate patients, families, and carers.
  • Facilitate community integration – assist return to work, school, or daily life.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments and interventions.
  • Collaborate with health colleagues, social care teams, reablement and partner agencies.
  • Participate in supervision and service development activities.
Requirements
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Proven experience working in a community OT setting.
  • Strong commitment to person‑centred, strengths‑based, and holistic practice.
  • Excellent assessment skills and ability to work autonomously within a supportive team.
Reporting

Reports to the OT Team Manager, South Lakes, and works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Service Area

Primary service delivered to Westmorland and Furness Council; no requirement to provide services to external bodies.
