Love what you do, working with students and supporting teachers to achieve goals and objectives for each individual student. Must meet Maine Educational Technician II requirements and preferably with course work in education and/or related fields.

Responsibilities- Student Centered
- Understanding and/or willingness to learn about students with special needs.
- Sensitivity to students, parents, team and building needs.
- Works one to one and with small group s of students to implement curriculum, instruction and assessments.
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, etc.
- Assists students with lunch, snack, and clean up routines.
- Assists teachers in ensuring that students’ personal, safety and well‑being needs are met.
- Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Leadership
- Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills: calmness, kindness, warm and sincere demeanor.
- Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
- Carries out behavioral programs and expectations for students in the absence of the teacher (recess, lunch, small group work, etc.).
- Participates in inservice training provided through the district to improve knowledge and skills needed to perform job responsibilities.
- Participates in staff meetings as needed.
- Assists principal and office staff with clerical tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Assists with building duties and routine tasks as assigned by the principal and supervising teachers (i.e., recess, lunch, bus duty, etc.).
- Prepares and organizes materials for instruction as requested by teachers and supervisors.
- Assists in the preparation of and implementation of school wide activities.
- Student‑centered: you keep student’s needs central to every action you take and decision you make; you never lose sight of students’ needs as the district’s focal point and North Star.
- Anti‑discrimination champion: you ensure that staff feel comfortable sharing examples of discrimination and harassment they witness or experience, and that staff trust that discrimination and harassment will be addressed if shared; students and staff see you as their advocate.
- Wellness focus: you rely on both holistic and granular assessments to ensure that staff and student well‑being drive your decision‑making.
- Innovator: you don’t do things because it’s how they’ve always been done; you look for new, more effective and innovative solutions when faced with mediocre or plateauing results.

Terms of EmploymentSalary and benefits in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Board policies.
EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with this document by the Principal.
