Position: PET Fusion Technologist - Kenner - FT - Sign on Bonus

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients and safely perform PET procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols.
  • Act as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.
  • Verify physician orders and procedures to assure accuracy.
  • Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate care.
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
  • Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol, including placement of IV and administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards.
  • Complete timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and perform notification/remediation as warranted.
  • Assist in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population with respect for privacy, introductions, explanations, permissions, and communication style.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Shift: Mon – Fri, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Education

Required - High School graduate or equivalent

Work Experience

Required - None. Preferred - Healthcare experience.

Certifications

Required - Registered in Nuclear Medicine by the ARRT or equivalent body as recognized by the ACR or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Board;
Certification in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) by the ARRT or equivalent body as recognized by the ACR;
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

(KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard; effective verbal and written communication; ability to present information clearly to various levels within the patient care process.
  • Knowledge of all Nuclear Medicine and PET procedures and quality assurance methods.
Other
  • Verifies physician orders and procedures to assure accuracy.
  • Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care.
  • Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
  • Reviews and transmits images meeting diagnostic quality standards; participates in quality control and regulatory compliance.
